The importance of an accurate media coverage of the 7th GECF Summit

Mr. Choeib Boutamine, CEO of Ranadrill, stressed on Thursday in Algiers, the need for “accurate” media coverage of the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, to be hosted by Algeria from February 29 to March 2.

This came during a training media seminar for journalists organized by the Algerian Public Television ahead of the gas summit. In this line, Mr. Choeib Boutamine stressed the need for journalists assigned to cover the summit to be familiar with the basic terminology of the gas market, conduct research to get to know the leaders in the gas industry, and research the latest market developments and regulatory changes that may affect the event’s discussions.

He said it was also important for journalists to be aware of Algeria’s strengths in the field of gas in order to promote them, notably Algeria’s strategic location (far from geopolitical tensions), its moderate climate (which facilitates supply operations), as well as its being a safe country. He also shed light on the importance of promoting gas as a clean and transformational energy.
